Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, first shown in 1975, created the formula of five heroes in red, blue, yellow, green and pink, and J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai followed in 1977.

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger and Avataro Sentai Donbrothers are often named by fans as the best of the series.
